Getting your garden Christmas-ready

If you're hosting a party this festive season, or just welcoming family home, here are some tips to make sure your garden and entryways look cheerful:

Outdoor Christmas Lights:

String up outdoor Christmas lights on fences, trees, and other structures. Opt for classic white lights, multicoloured strings, or themed lights to create a festive atmosphere.

Christmas Tree in the Garden:

If space allows, set up a small Christmas tree in your garden. Decorate it with outdoor-friendly baubles, lights, and a tree topper.

Floor lights

Line pathways and walkways with lanterns or small pathway lights. They not only add a festive touch but also provide illumination. You can also create DIY glowing jars by placing battery-operated tea lights inside mason jars or glass jugs. Arrange them around seating areas or on steps for a soft, festive glow.

Festive Planters:

Decorate outdoor planters with seasonal greenery, pinecones, and ornaments. Consider adding red or gold bows for a pop of colour.

Wreaths on Gates and Fences:

Hang Christmas wreaths on gates, fences, or outdoor structures. You can make your own wreaths using evergreen branches, holly, pinecones, and ribbon. See here for more details on how.

Outdoor Christmas Decorations:

Go all out with Christmas-themed garden statues strategically throughout your garden. This could include reindeer figures, snowmen, or even a nativity scene.

Remember to consider the weather conditions and choose decorations that can withstand outdoor elements.
